Why Join the Pi Kappa Phi Upsilon Alumni Chapter?
1. Preserve and Celebrate the Memories
For many of us, our years at the University of Illinois and as members of Pi Kappa Phi were among the most meaningful and formative periods of our lives. We lived together, learned together, celebrated successes together, and supported one another through challenges. The bonds we formed as undergraduates often became lifelong friendships.
As the years passed, careers, families, and distance naturally pulled many of us in different directions. While some brothers have remained closely connected, others have lost touch with the people who played such an important role in their college experience. The Alumni Chapter provides an opportunity to reconnect with those memories, friendships, and traditions that helped shape who we are today.
2. Reconnect with Brothers and the Fraternity
Today, there are more than 800 living Upsilon alumni across the country, including more than 360 in the Chicagoland area alone. The Alumni Chapter offers a meaningful way to reconnect—not only with the brothers you knew during your time at Illinois, but also with Pi Kappa Phi and the values it continues to uphold.
In September 2025, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Upsilon Chapter. For those who attended, it was remarkable to see brothers who had not seen one another in decades pick up conversations as if no time had passed. The laughter, stories, and shared memories reminded us all of the unique bond that connects generations of Upsilon brothers. Just as inspiring was the opportunity to meet and engage with the current undergraduate chapter, strengthening the connection between our past and the future of Pi Kappa Phi.
3. Re-engage and Help Shape the Future
Following the Centennial Celebration, more than 80 brothers responded to a survey expressing interest in building a vibrant and active Alumni Chapter. They wanted opportunities to stay connected, learn what fellow brothers are doing, attend social and networking events, and support the continued success of the Upsilon Chapter.
The Alumni Chapter represents a new opportunity to strengthen our lifelong Brotherhood. Whether your interest is reconnecting with old friends, mentoring undergraduate members, supporting scholarships and chapter initiatives, participating in alumni events, or simply staying informed, there is a place for you.
Most importantly, joining the Alumni Chapter allows us to ensure that the values, friendships, and traditions of Pi Kappa Phi continue to thrive for future generations of Upsilon brothers. We invite you to become part of this next chapter in our history and remain involved for as long as you choose.
